2 space or not 2 space

Heather just informed me that when typing it is no longer cool to have 2 spaces after the period. One space is "the norm". According to her, if you're like me and still use the old-school 2 spaces you run the risk of being "kerned". I refuse to recognize this rule, but it seems that some programs including this blog editor automatically delete one of the spaces! Damn the man! 2 spaces forever!

In all seriousness, because this is definitely very serious, there is an explaination here.

that's funny, because Maria is also on a mission to eradicate the two spaces after a period phenomenon. I still do it. Hah! I just did it!

Actually you're both still doing it, and if you "view source" on Jon's home page, the double spaces are still there. The problem is that HTML and web browsers ignore extra white space, so anything beyond a single space just gets smooshed together. I shall demonstrate this by putting seven spaces here: (done). See?

This has been a public service message from your friendly local web nerd.

As much as I hate to agree with you, 2 spaces kick ass. interesting, jo(h)n, that you linked to a site from the very school district which produced none other than The Lum.

The Lum

Thank you Heather for informing Jon that 2 spaces after a period are not necessary. Thanks Jon for posting it on your blog. Thanks Eileen for mentioning my mission. I've been trying to figure out a way to spread the word but I figured sending out a mass email might seem obsessive. So you all have saved me the trouble. For further proof, just check out any professionally printed material, e.g. books, brochures, magazines.

I now have another reason to add to the long list of reasons to use 2 spaces after a period: it annoys Maria.

I'm with Jon on the two spaces issue. Plus, I REALLY hate a program that decides for me what I really meant!! (BTW, this comment box is presented in Courier ... the much-feared "loosely set" type-face. So, all you "one-spacers" should have put two spaces in here!!!!!)

I, too, prefer the 2-spaces-concept, and I lament every time some automated system takes that option away from me. *sigh*

buy vidalista 20mg online treats PAH by relaxing the blood vessels in the lungs to allow blood to flow more easily. If you are taking it to treat erectile dysfunction, you should know that it does not cure erectile dysfunction or increase sexual desire.
